The baklava cafe is the first location of the infamous Turkish baklava maker Gulluoglu in Manhattan. Market Design is proud to have been selected as the design architect for this very important project. Baklava, needless to say, is an ancient middle eastern delicacy made of 40 layers of very thin dough layered with roasted pistachios, baked and served with hot honey syrup. Market Design envisioned a modern environment with ancient roots evocative of the ancient recipe and its contemporary interpretations. The result was a stunning new store with sharp geometrical lines, fabricated in white and burgundy marble cladding, signature colors of our client.
