Delfino
is a prime handbag and accessories store in the Upper East
Side in Manhattan. The objective of the project was
to install high end exhibition and sales units manufactured
by the exotic African wood; wenge to improve the aesthetics
and the functioning of the store.
The major components of the project were front window platforms,
wall units and counter cabinet units, installed in the space
which glows with glass boxes. Our concept was to generate
exhibition units that were connected to one another as opposed
to individual and disconnected objects as usual. We started
with the window platforms and extruded these with horizontal
elements, which we called ribbons, into the store merging
with the sales counter and storage units. The ribbons, which
were dimensioned by 15" high existing shelf distances,
generated a system of interconnecting planes throughout
the components of the project which otherwise would remain
detached and fragmentary. This also empowered the customer
flow from the street to the store with its visual extrusion.
The statistics show that our project increased the customer
flow by %45.
